Renting an aparment with a dog

Hi!
I'm looking for an aparment in Alsace, where I can take my dog (45 cm) with me.
In the ads, I have not seen that pets are allowed, or prohibited.
Is it generally allowed to have a dog when renting? Or do you have to ask the ageny, or the owner?
Or is it better to first move into the apartment, and just take the dog with you after some time?

    Hello,

    In France, you generally have to ask the agency or the owner if pets are allowed.
    For agencies, it mostly depends on the contract signed with the owner.
    Then, this is recommended to ask before moving in.
