English Speakers in Dornbirn

Posted in Vorarlberg forum

Hallo :)

My name's Daniel, 24 years old, and I've been living in Vorarlberg for a year now. I'm orginally from Scotland and moved over here after I finished University.I've picked up quite a bit of German and dialect, but I'm looking to find some fellow English speakers to maybe share experiences or just talk! I've been through the good and the bad since I've been here and a lot of people think I'm crazy still living out here, but I enjoy the challenge and I've settled in now.

I live in Dornbirn city centre and would be happy to meet up with others for a chat, a coffee or a beer! Just need to give me a shout :)

Dan.

Im English and I've lived in Feldkirch, Voralberg for over a year and not met any English Speakers - a meetup somewhere would be something I'd be very interested in = )

Just reaching out if anyone still uses this forum!

    Hi everybody,

I'll be back to Feldkirch tomorrow: I would be interested in meeting in Feldkirch, Dornbirn, Liechtenstein or wherever (ok,maybe Liechtenstein is a bit expensive :D). Please let me know if you are going to do something.

    Ciao

    Hello Juliana,

I'm currently in Shangai for business until mid of July.
But no problem to meet up for a coffee when I'll be back!

    Hi Daniel,

I'm glad I got an answer. I also wasn't really expecting any because there is not a lot of participants on this forum!
I just arrived yesterday actually. I'm staying at the hotel until I find a flat.
So why Vorarlberg? Good question :) I was working for Thyssenkrupp Presta in France as an apprentice. I got my master degree and my contract ended last september. Then, I had a opportunity to work at Thyssenkrupp Presta's headquarter in Eschen, Liechtenstein. And here I am! I'm a projektleiterin in logistics.
What about you? How do like it here? I really have to focus on german... How fast did u learn?
I'll be free on the week-ends. I don't really know yet if I am going to work late in the evening on a daily.
I inbox you my email adress so we can discuss.

    Hope to see u around.
    Cheers

    Hi Estelle,

Nice to hear from you! Thought I'd never get a response from posting on here, was a bit surprised to get an email saying I had a reply!
How long have you been here now? I currently work and live in Dornbirn, are you living somewhere between here and Feldkirch then? What made you choose to travel over here for work?
Haha I know a little French (did a bit at school) and I'm learning more and more in German everyday! My scottish accent isn't that difficult to understand by the way, I've learned to tone it down when speaking to others :)
I'd be happy to meet up if you'd like to. I understand what it's like to suddenly be in a new place and not really know where to go/what to do. You'd just need to let me know when and where is suitable for you :)
Hope to hear back from you :)

    Hello Daniel,

    How are you doing?
I'm new to the Dornbirn/Feldkirch area and I try to meet people around my age!
I've just found a job in Liechtenstein, that's why I'm going to settle down around there.
I'm french so I speak english perfectly but that could be worse :)
If you want to meet up, no problem.
I would like to hear how you made it here!
    Hope to see u soon.

    Estelle
